Two men beat sleeping transient in Ocean Beach

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Two men beat a sleeping transient and stabbed him in his back early Tuesday in an Ocean Beach alley, police said.

The homeless man told police he was sleeping in an alley off the 4800 block of Santa Monica Avenue near Sunset Cliffs Boulevard when he was awakened shortly after 3:30 a.m. by the two men attacking him, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

The two assailants, described as being between 20 and 30 years old, eventually ran off, at which point the victim flagged down the officer to report the assault, Delimitros said. It was then discovered the victim had been stabbed.

The injured man was taken to a hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening stab wound to his back, according to Delimitros.
