Two Oceanside brothers killed in Texas campsite massacre

TEXAS (KUSI) – Two young men from Oceanside were among two of the victims in the Texas campsite killings.

Nathan and Austin Kamp went to Texas to visit their father – Thomas Kamp – and their extended family.

It was supposed to be a fun weekend, but it turned into a scene straight out of a horror film.

Thomas Kamp was the new owner of the property where the murders happened.

According to The Washington Post, 33-year-old William Hudson believed the land legally belonged to him.

Earlier in the day, Hudson helped the family dislodge their vehicle from mud and returned hours later and killed six members of the family.

The Palestine Herald-Press reported shots were fired between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Nov. 15.

Around 7 a.m., police were called by Cynthia Johnson, who survived the shootings by hiding in the woods.

The Washington Post reports that when authorities first arrived on scene, they initially believed the body count was two, until they found the additional victims in a pond behind Hudson’s house Monday afternoon.

Nathan and Austin Kamp lived with their mother in Oceanside.

Nathan was 23 and Austin was 21.
