Two people critically injured after church catches fire

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Two men were critically injured in a church fire, after a makeshift oven exploded Saturday.

The church is located on the 1700 block of East Palomar Street and the fire began at approximately 2:49 p.m., according to a Chula vista Fire Department report.

The fire was already extinguished when fire crews arrived. Both victims were taken to UCSD Medical Center.
