Two rescued from burning boat

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Good Samaritans rescued two boaters after their craft caught fire and sank off the coast of Point Loma, the U.S. Coast Guard said Monday.

The blaze broke out on a 60-foot boat about 2:30 p.m. Sunday about 13 miles west of Point Loma, according to USCG Petty Officer 1st Class Allyson Conroy. Occupants of another boat spotted the flames and pulled the two boaters from the water.

San Diego Harbor Police officers took the rescued pair to Shelter Island and they were later released.
