Two gang members arrested for allegedly shooting car in North County

ESCONDIDO (CNS) – A SWAT team arrested two suspected gang members today for allegedly opening fire on a passing car in a North County neighborhood, damaging the vehicle but causing no injuries.

Cesar Alejandro Carreon, 20, and a teenage boy surrendered at a home in the 700 block of Mission Grove Place in Escondido about 2:30 a.m., according to police. The minor's name was withheld due to his age.

The pair allegedly fired a shotgun and a small-caliber rifle at a passing car in the same general area about 6 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. Chris Wynn said. The motive for the shooting was unclear.

The suspects were expected to face charges of attempted murder, weapons violations and possession of stolen property, the lieutenant said.

During a search of the residence, officers impounded three guns, ammunition, a ballistic helmet and several computers, including one stolen during a recent burglary, according to police.
