Two wounded in Interstate 8 shooting
EL CAJON (KUSI) – A man and a female were wounded in a car-to-car shooting early Thursday on Interstate 8 near El Cajon.
Shots were fired from inside a newer black SUV in the eastbound lanes near Los Coches Road around 1 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Tommy Doerr said.
It was not immediately clear whether there was an altercation between the occupants prior to the gunfire.
Two wounded people were taken to a hospital to be treated, according to the CHP and fire officials.
The eastbound freeway was temporarily closed in the area but later reopened as officers swept the area for bullet casings, according to Caltrans.
A Lexus sedan was left with shattered windows and bullet holes in its doors.
