Two youth football teams banned for season following brawl in stands

CHULA VISTA (KUSI) – Two youth football teams were banned for the season after a brawl broke out among fans at a game in Chula Vista.

League officials expelled both teams playing at the time – the Otay Ranch Broncos and Inland Empire Ducks.

One man was making a scene, yelling at the kids and officials. An argument between that man’s group and others from the opposing team ensued in the stands, and soon escalated into a physical altercation involving several people.

Chula Vista police were summoned to the field, but no one was arrested. The game was declared a forfeit for both teams. San Diego Youth Football & Cheer
banned both 14-and under "Midget" division teams for the remainder of the season.

Parents of the Otay Ranch Broncos players hired a lawyer, enlisted the help of the National Action Network’s San Diego chapter and have held a
rally in an effort to get the expulsion overturned.
