U.S. and Mexico officials to meet over Tijuana river sewage spills

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – U.S. and Mexico officials are scheduled to meet Monday to discuss repairs and maintenance for a ruptured sewage pipe that continues to spill waste into Imperial Beach waters.

Shorelines in Imperial Beach remained off limits to swimmers on Friday, according to the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health.

Residents are advised to stay out of the ocean 72 hours after it rains because of contamination from urban runoff, but sewage-tainted pollution is far more dangerous to beach goers.
