U.S. Navy’s USS Colorado joins the fleet
The U.S. Navy’s newest attack submarine, the USS Colorado has joined the fleet. It was commissioned Saturday in a ceremony at Connecticut’s Naval Submarine Base.
The 377-foot long submarine can fight submarines and surface ships, conduct surveillance and deliver special operations troops. Plus, it can be maneuvered by an Xbox controller. An Xbox controller can be used to operate the sub’s photonics masts. The Colorado’s Commanding Officer says the controllers were used because they were cheaper, and younger sailors are more familiar with how they work.
