UC San Diego hosts ribbon cutting and community celebration for opening of Gilman Bridge

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – UC San Diego celebrated the opening of Gilman Bridge with a Ribbon Cutting and Community Celebration with more than 400 attendees including community members, students, faculty and staff.

Spanning gracefully over Interstate 5, the Gilman Bridge is one of several regional transportation projects—including the UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley and I-5/Genesee interchange—which are transforming the campus and how people get to it. Together, these projects will ease street traffic and parking demands, improve air quality and better connect the university with the greater San Diego community.

Representatives from project partners SANDAG and Caltrans will also be on hand for interviews, as attendees take part in the Gilman Bridge ribbon cutting, be among the first to walk the new bridge and enjoy a fun community celebration suspended above the I-5.
