UC San Diego ranked as one of the top 20 best universities worldwide
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – UC San Diego is ranked as the 14th best university in the world.
According to the 2015 Academic Ranking of World Universities release by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, this is the third year in a rob that USCD has placed in the top 20 best universities worldwide.
UCSD's programs in life sciences, engineering, computer science, chemistry and economics also all ranked among the top 20 in the world, and the University of California campus in La Jolla was listed at the 12th best university in the U.S.
"It is an honor for UC San Diego to be recognized as a world-class university with strengths across multiple disciplines,'' Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla said.
"This recognition can be attributed to our stellar faculty and outstanding students who are dedicated to producing research that changes lives, solves critical problems and benefits society.''
The Academic Ranking of World University uses six indicators to evaluate schools across the globe, including number of alumni and staff who win Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, the number of highly cited researchers and the number of articles published in the journals Nature and Science.
Academic Ranking of World Universities evaluated more than 1,200 universities and published the top 500.
