UC San Diego ranks high globally

LA JOLLA (CNS) – UC San Diego's reputation among academics ranks 40th in
the world, according to a report released Thursday by the London-based Times
Higher Education.

The rankings used more than 10,500 responses from senior, published
scholars in 133 countries to find the top global university brands.

“UC San Diego is an academic powerhouse, consistently recognized as a
leading institution by organizations such as Times Higher Education,” UC San
Diego Chancellor Pradeep Khosla said. “This global ranking, based on input
from senior published scholars, is testament to the university's influence and
impact.”

Colleges in the U.S. took the first three spots — Harvard, the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford. Other California schools
among the top 50 were UC Berkeley, sixth; the California Institute of
Technology, ninth; UCLA, 10th; and UC San Francisco, 32nd.

In the next 50 were UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara and USC.

Times Higher Education said the rankings are based on the considered
expert — though subjective — judgment of senior, published academics, who
know the most about excellence in universities.
