University of San Diego won’t dump drag show

SAN DIEGO (AP) – The
University of San Diego says it will hold a campus drag show Wednesday
night despite criticism that it violates the school's Catholic values.

A former president of the alumni association, Charles LiMandri, told UT San Diego (http://bit.ly/Hwm3HR ) that the cross-dressing fashion show is lewd entertainment. He says some 7,000 people have signed a petition opposing it.

However, an alumni group has formed to support it.

University spokeswoman
Pamela Gray Payton says the show is 1 of several events planned by
students to foster understanding of gender non-conformity.

But LiMandri, whose son attends the school, says Catholics don't believe in gender flexibility.
