Update: Missing 84-year-old North County man found safe
OCEANSIDE (KUSI) — 3/9/2018 — An 84-year-old North County man reported missing was found disoriented but in good health Friday morning near the Salton Sea in Riverside County, authorities said.
Daniel Simpson of Oceanside was last seen driving his car around 8 a.m. Thursday, though police had received reports of possible sightings of him in Fallbrook and San Marcos later in the day.
Around 8 a.m. Friday, about 24 hours after Simpson’s last confirmed sighting, he and his Dodge Caliber were found off a road near Thermal, an unincorporated community in Riverside County north of the Salton Sea and south of Interstate 10, Oceanside police said.
“He was found this morning by deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department,” Lt. Kedrick Sadler said. “His vehicle was stuck and disabled at the time he was located.”
Simpson was described as being disoriented but in good health when the deputies found him, Sadler said. He was taken to a nearby hospital for an evaluation.
3/8/2018 — An 84-year-old North County man went missing Thursday and the public was asked to help locate him.
The last confirmed sighting of Daniel Simpson of Oceanside took place about 8 a.m., according to police, who said he was driving a white 2007 Dodge Caliber, Florida license number Y80JKB.
Since then, police have gotten reports of possible sightings of Simpson in Fallbrook and San Marcos.
Simpson is a 5-foot-10-inch, roughly 180-pound white man with gray hair and brown eyes. Anyone who might have information on his whereabouts was asked to call the Oceanside Police Department at (760) 435-4911.
