Update on El Cajon amid COVID-19 and reopening
EL CJAON (KUSI) – The Mayor of El Cajon joined Good Morning San Diego to discuss how El Cajon is doing amid the reopenings during the coronavirus pandemic.
California has recorded more than 5,000 COVID-19 deaths as cases continue to climb in several parts of the state.
On Sunday, the state Department of Public Health reported 148,855 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 5,063 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
County health officials reported 126 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases to 9,440 while the death toll remained at 319.
According to San Diego County records in El Cajon has had 620 cases as of June 14th, zip code 92020 has 338 cases and 92021 has 282.
Bars, zoos, community swimming pools, movie theaters and hotels all were allowed to reopen Friday. Guidance from the state late Thursday night allowed County Supervisor Greg Cox to announce nail salons, tattoo shops, massage therapists, and personal care businesses — such as waxing services — will be allowed to open June 19.
