US finds body of San Diego-based sailor feared missing in Gulf of Oman
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP/KUSI) – The U.S. Navy says it has recovered the body of an American sailor who fell overboard in the Gulf of Oman.
A search was launched yesterday evening after the sailor was reported missing from the destroyer USS Halsey. The Bahrain-based U.S. 5th Fleet said the sailor's body was recovered Wednesday.
The sailor was reported missing after failing to report for watch duty.
Her name has not been released.
The USS Halsey is a San Diego-based guided missile destroyer. It's currently in the Gulf of Oman just south of Iran.
