US Military economic footprint in San Diego is growing

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A new report highlights just how important the military is to the San Diego economy.

The 2019 military impact study says about 22-percent of all jobs in the region are connected to the military. That’s more than 350,000 jobs that contribute more than $50 billion to our local economy.

The San Diego Military Advisory Council believes the economic impact will continue to grow, increasing by 7-percent next year s our National Defense strategy shifts toward the Pacific.
