Cursing in Myrtle Beach can lead to citations or jail time

MYRTLE BEACH (KUSI) – A new report by Myrtle Beach Online claims people who get caught using profanity in the city of Myrtle Beach could be taken to jail or issued a citation.

Myrtle Beach Online reports, “The lewd, obscene and profane language ordinance — a misdemeanor — falls under the city’s disorderly conduct offense.” According to information from a Freedom of Information Act request by The Sun News, the city of Myrtle Beach brought in $22,161 last year from profane language citations.  289 tickets were issued, each one averaging around $77.
