USS Carl Vinson to change its home port to San Diego
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The U.S. Navy’s USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) will be changing its home port to San Diego beginning Aug. 1, according to Congressman Scott Peters.
The third Nimitz-class supercarrier will return to San Diego after leaving in July of 2018.
The vessel is named for Carl Vinson, a Congressman from Georgia, in recognition of his contributions to the U.S. Navy.
