Valhalla 28, Steele Canyon 10
The Valhalla Norseman took home the Jamacha helmet for the second straight season as they were too much for the Steele Canyon Cougars. The Norseman showed that defense wins games as the Cougars couldn’t find an answer to get past their defense. The Norseman scored early in the first quarter as quarterback Phillip Naseh threw a 16 yard touchdown pass to Neever Kryakos. The Norseman kept on rolling as Phillip Nasheh had 3 of the 4 touchdowns on the night. Steele Canyon’s scores came from a 35 yard field goal from Alex Raya and a 6 yard touchdown run by Pierre Alexander but that was not enough to beat the Norseman as the final score was 28-10 Valhalla. Since 2004, the rivalry and Battle of the Jamacha Helmet Is now tied at 6 wins and 6 losses. The Norseman keep control of second place in the Grossmont Valley League and will host Grossmont in Week 11 for their final regular game of the season. The Steele Canyon Cougars will go on the road to Mount Miguel for their final game of the regular season. With both teams looking to get into playoffs, their Week 11 games will be important to come out with a win. The Norseman improve to (7-2) on the season and the Cougars are now (5-4) on the season.

Week 10 brings us to The Battle of the Jamacha Helmet as Steele Canyon (5-3) hosts Valhalla (6-2). The Jamacha Helmet trophy is currently held with the Norsemen as they beat the cougars 25-24 last season. Steele Canyon is coming off a two game win streak as they impressively beat undefeated Grossmont in Week 8 and took down El Capitan in Week 9. The Cougars are coming into Week 10 with a whole lot of momentum and hoping to bring the Jamacha helmet back to their home this season. Despite their tough loss to powerhouse Helix in week 9, Valhalla looks to come out of Week 10 with the Jamacha helmet.
Steele Canyon’s sophomore quarterback Thomas Fishburne has done an incredible job leading this Cougar offense and will look to keep it rolling in Week 10. Valhalla’s senior quarterback Phillip Naseh will carry the Noresman’s offense as he has had a tremendous season so far with many weapons to throw to. Senior star Daniel Bender will lead the Norseman’s defense on attempting to stop a well-rounded Cougar offense.
Since 2004, Steele Canyon leads the rivalry with 6 wins and 5 losses. This will be the last Cougars home game of the regular season. Who will take home the Jamacha helmet this season?
