Video games may be negatively impacting your child’s health
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – With video games like Fortnite capturing the attention of many young gamers, experts warn parents of excessive screen time in terms of how it can affect a child’s overall heart health. Giving parents another reason to limit time used on tablets, computers and phones; it could lead to developing heart disease later in life.
In a recent announcement from the American Heart Association, the organization reinforced existing recommendations to limit screen time for kids and teens to no more than one to two hours a day as this activity is directly related to inactivity and obesity, which is associated with high cholesterol and high blood pressure – risk factors for heart disease.
Dr. Ahmad Bailony, chief of pediatrics at Sharp Chula Vista, shared information that he says parents need to know.
