Video shows Marine’s SUV crashing through gate

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (AP) – Surveillance video shows an off-duty Marine's sport utility vehicle crashing through a Southern California high school gate minutes before an Orange County sheriff's deputy shot and killed the Camp Pendleton sergeant.

The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/HchTEs ) says it obtained the grainy video from San Clemente High School on Tuesday.

It doesn't show the shooting scene.

After crashing through the gate before dawn on Feb. 7, investigators say 31-year-old Sgt. Manuel Loggins got out of the SUV and was acting irrationally before returning to the vehicle.

Loggins was in the driver's seat and his two daughters were in the back seat when he was shot. Investigators say Deputy Darren Sandberg feared for the girls' safety.

The video is from a camera mounted on the school gym.
