Vigil held for two teens killed in Lakeside accident

LAKESIDE (KUSI) – Last week, a 16-year-old driver lost control of his truck and slammed into a tree while speeding down Willow Road.  Investigators say the driver and a 16-year-old passenger were killed as a result of the accident.

The driver, identified as Justin Kyle, 16, was killed on impact.  Front seat passenger Isaac Culkin, also 16, was treated for life-threatening injuries but taken off life support and died Wednesday morning.  Culkin’s family said his organs will be donated.

Two other 16-year-old passengers sitting in the back seat survived the crash.

Longtime Lakeside resident and Culkin family friend Billy Ortiz organized a vigil for 4:30 p.m. today at the site of the accident in honor of the two lives lost.

“Their lives will always be with us and every time we get in a car, we’ll have this experience in the back of our heads,” says Todd Chiuchiarelli, a friend of the victims. “We have to be safe out there.”

Friends of the family have set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs.
