Vista 31, El Camino 14

OCEANSIDE – Coming off their upset win at La Costa Canyon last week, the El Camino Wildcats came in to this game as the favorites. Vista didn’t seem to care about that. After the Wildcats took an early 7-0 lead, the Panthers answered with two scores of their own and lead 14-7 at halftime.

The play of the game came 4 minutes into the 3rd quarter when Vista QB Nate Johnson decided to keep the ball, taking it 59 yards for the score. The Panthers would add one more TD after Johnson left the game with an injury, a QB keeper by JT Trevino III. Johnson would later return. After a field goal by the Panthers, El Camino answered with a touchdown of their own, but it was too late, as the Vista Panthers went on to win, 31-14.

Vista improves to 4-3, 1-0 (Avocado East), while El Camino falls to 5-2, 1-0 (Avocado West).
