Vista 35, Olympian 14
VISTA – In the first ever match up between the two teams, the Vista Panthers defeated the Olympian Eagles in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs Friday night. Vista will travel to play Saint Augustine next week.
After an impressive goal line stand to keep the Eagles out of the end zone in the first quarter, the Panthers were rocking. It was truly a team effort, as 4 different Panthers scored, including 2 touchdowns by RB Ralph Hatcher.
This season, Olympian QB Nick Cannon had over 700 yards rushing, but Vista’s defense held him to negative yards Friday night.
After Vista QB Nate Johnson scored a touchdown in the first quarter, he was involved in an altercation with the Olympian defense that led to his ejection. He is questionable for next Friday’s game against Saint Augustine. Junior backup QB JT Trevino III led the offense for the remainder of the game for the Panthers.
Olympian finishes their season at 4-7, while Vista improves to 6-5.
