Vista house fire injures one

VISTA (CNS) – A man sustained minor injuries Sunday in a blaze that broke out in the storage area of a residence.

Firefighters were called at 12:16 p.m. to a fire in a home at 1248 Alta Vista Drive, Vista Deputy Fire Chief Ned Vander Pol said.

“When units arrived they found smoke coming from the rear of the structure in a workshop storage area connected to the house by a breezeway,” Vander Pol said. “The fire was contained to that workshop area. There was smoke damage to the structure, but no fire damage.”

About 25 firefighters were still on the scene mopping up two hours later, Vander Pol said.

Vander Pol said a resident of the home, identified as a man in his 30s, sustained unspecified minor injuries. He said a San Diego City Hazmat crew and a fire investigator were on the scene investigating the cause of the fire, which had yet to be determined.
