Vista stabbing suspect jailed for attempted murder

VISTA (KUSI) – A North County woman who allegedly stabbed her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife during an argument Sunday surrendered and was jailed on suspicion of attempted murder.

Christena Potter, 46, was accompanied by a lawyer when she turned herself in at the Vista Sheriff’s Station this morning, sheriff’s Sgt. Matthew Mays said.

Potter allegedly knifed her spouse at their home on Flower Lane in Vista shortly after midnight Sunday, then fled. The victim, who was awake and alert when deputies arrived, was transported to a hospital for treatment of a wound that was not believed to be life-threatening.

“Neither party wished to (explain) what the argument was about,” Mays said.

Potter was booked into county jail in Vista. She was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
