Vista woman to be honored at White House

VISTA (CNS) – A Vista woman who is the founder and president of a
general contracting and consulting firm is one of 12 veterans of the wars in
Afghanistan and Iraq who will be honored at a White House ceremony Tuesday.

Elizabeth “Liz” Perez-Halperin will be among the “Champions of
Change” honored in conjunction with National Energy Action Month for their
efforts to advance clean energy and increase climate resilience and
preparedness in their communities.

GC Green Inc. has provided training and job placement assistance in the
renewable energy industry to more than 1,300 people since its founding in 2010,
according to the White House.

Perez-Halperin also is involved with Operation Free, a nationwide
coalition of veterans and national security experts who advocate for securing
America with clean energy.

Perez-Halperin served in the U.S. Navy for more than eight years as an
aviation logistics specialist and was discharged honorably as a wounded warrior
veteran. The Champions of Change program was created as an opportunity for
the White House to feature individuals, businesses and organizations doing
extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities.
