Volunteer Opportunities with Jewish Family Service’s Foodmobile

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – April is National Volunteer Month and Jewish Family Service of San Diego’s Foodmobile, which serves hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors throughout San Diego County.

The service relies on hundreds of volunteers who annually deliver more than 65,000 warm meals to thousands of seniors and disabled adults in our region.

Meals are prepared daily in JFS’s onsite kosher kitchen. Healthier, low sodium options are also available, and JFS provides nutrition labels on every meal.

More than just a meal, Foodmobile provides friendly conversations and well-being checks for homebound older adults, and helps connect them with other important services, including home-safety improvements, transportation, dietary counseling and care management.
