Walk across America supports Navy SEAL Foundation

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – He walked across the country. Paul Ferraro’s journey of 3,000 miles to raise money for the Navy SEAL Foundation ended Tuesday morning in Coronado.

Of course, Coronado is the SEAL’s West Coast headquarters.

Even under optimum conditions, walking across the country in five months – 30 to 40 miles a day – would tax even the fittest Navy SEAL.

But for a man who celebrated his 59th birthday on the road, who has a history of kidney stone issues, walking across Arizona in the summer would be cause for shutting it down.

After all, Paul Ferraro, a retired hi-tech business owner from New Jersey had already raised more than $20,000 for the Navy SEAL Foundation and that’s not counting corporate donations.

By the way, the road Ferraro chose for his journey was done mostly be himself with no van or support staff.

So the welcome by dozens of employees here at the Lowe’s Coronado Bay Resort was most welcoming and emotional.
