Water main bursts in Mountain View area
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – An underground water-pipeline connector broke in a
Mountain View-area neighborhood early today, flooding a street and leaving
nearly two dozen homes without functional plumbing for about six hours.
The utility failure in the 700 block of South 44th Street was reported
shortly after 5 a.m., according to the San Diego Water Department.
It took city crews roughly an hour to halt the overflow, which caused no
reported structural flooding but damaged a parked vehicle, SDWD spokesman
Arian Collins said.
The mishap left 22 homes without water service until about 11 a.m.,
Collins said.
The damaged roadway was expected to be patched and reopened in the early
afternoon.
