Water tank trunk leads police on pursuit through Mission Valley

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A water tank truck led police on a pursuit in Mission Valley Monday night, before crashing into a fence in a shopping center parking lot.

Police received reports of someone trespassing on a construction zone in the 2400 block of Qualcomm Way around 10 p.m. Monday. When officers arrived a water truck started approaching their vehicle, San Diego police Lt. Laura McLean said. The officer quickly put the patrol car in reverse and a pursuit ensued.

The water truck led officers and a police helicopter to the Fenton Marketplace parking lot on Friars Rd., McLean said, where the pursuit ended after the truck ran through a fence.

The suspect was taken into custody. It was not yet determined if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
