Week 10: Army-Navy Academy Warriors 48, Escondido Charter White Tigers 14

Week 10 of the PPR is now in the books.

Escondido Charter hosted Army-Navy in Carlsbad for a special homecoming game.

In the first quarter, Army-Navy started off strong. Paul Ferraro took the ball up the field. Ferraro almost reached the end zone, but the ball slipped through his fingers. He set up the Warriors in the red zone and then John Hart punched it in for a five-yard touchdown. Army-Navy took the lead early on, 7 to 0.

They were only getting started.

In the second quarter, Georgiy Begaliyev scrambled to find a burgundy jersey but got a white jersey instead. The ball was picked off by the Warriors’ Michael Davis. That same drive, Army Navy took it to the house, this time with Hadi Assias the carrier. The score was 28-0, Army-Navy.

After a quick 15-minute recess, the White Tigers came out of the locker rooms with redemption. On the kickoff return, Shane L’etoile took it up the field 85 yards to finally put his team on the board. The score was 35 to 7, Army-Navy.

But that score wasn’t enough to close the gap. The Warriors’ Ferraro takes it in for another six, and Assi gets his fourth touchdown of the night. The final score of this matchup was 48-14.

Next week, 3-6 Army Navy will face Tri-City Christian, while 1-9 Escondido Charter takes on Francis Parker.

PREVIEW

The end of the regular football season is near, as we head into Week 10 of the Prep Pigskin Report.

This week I will travel to Army-Navy Academy as they take on Escondido Charter at 7:00 in a league matchup. Although the game is being played on Army-Navy’s field, Escondido will actually be the home team.

The 2018 season isn’t the first time these two teams will meet on the gridiron. Last year, Army-Navy won the game in a 47-0 blowout. In fact, the Warriors have won the last five straight games against Escondido.

Coach Nehemiah Brunson will lead the (2-6) Warriors, as they come off of a hard loss against Classical Academy. The (1-8) White Tigers also took an “L” last week against Maranatha Christian.

Army-Navy will be guided by junior Quarterback Caleb Clark. So far this season Clark has 600 passing yards. Escondido’s quarterback is also a junior by the name of Georgiy Begaliyvev. Begaliyvev has more than 630 total yards going into the 10th week.

Will Army-Navy hold Escondido Charter, even from the opposite side of their field this week?
