Week 10: San Marcos Knights 48, Westview Wolverines 14
Week 10 ends with the San Marcos Knights coming out with the win this week against the Westview Wolverines, with a final score of 48-14.
In the first quarter, San Marcos’ Quinn Roff came in with a quick 2-yard touchdown run, making it 7-0, San Marcos.
San Marcos Miles Hastings found Zavion Reese for a solid 31-yard touchdown pass, maintaining their lead, 13-0.
Hastings again made a touchdown appearance with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Dane Olson, keeping their lead at 20-0.
In the second quarter, Westview managed to drive the ball down the field to the 13-yard line, but San Marcos’ Dane Olson decided to take it back for the Knights with an interception.
The interception then set up a prime opportunity for Hastings. Hastings connected with Gavin Cherveny for a strong 73-yard-touchdown pass, which made it 27-0, San Marcos.
The Wolverines made sure to get some points on the board. Westview’s Andrew Wiesely sent a 10-yard touchdown pass to Benjamin O’Brien, making it 41-7.
UC Davis-commit Miles Hastings managed to be a part of four touchdowns with four different receivers tonight. The offensive line seemed to be in sync tonight.
These two teams ended the night with a final score of 48-14.
Another week filled with talent and sharp plays from both sides.
San Marcos improves to 7-1, and Westview is now 1-8.
Next week, San Marcos will be playing at home against Mission Hills in the highly anticipated Discovery Bowl. Westview will take on their Palomar League opponent, Mt. Carmel, at home.
Week 10 is here with the Westview Wolverines (1-7) traveling to take on the San Marcos Knights (6-1) this Friday night.
Don’t let Westview’s 1-7 record fool you, they have been fighting all season for more wins but just fall short of a stronger record. Flashback to Week 4, Westview went into double overtime with one of San Diego County’s toughest undefeated teams, Granite Hills. A final score of 17-14 handed the Wolverines a tight loss.
If the Wolverines maintain that same kind of stamina, who knows where this team will end up in Week 10.
San Marcos is led by UC Davis-commit quarterback Miles Hastings. Hastings and the rest of the Knights wins include a notable win against La Costa Canyon. San Marcos managed to hand LCC their first and only loss of the season.
Both teams have played some of the best schools in the county. These two teams have displayed a lot of resilience and should both be proud of their 2018 seasons so far. Let’s see what these two capable teams do in Week 10.
