Week 10: San Marcos Knights 35, Westview Wolverines 7
It was all San Marcos on Friday night against Westview, as the Knights beat the Wolverines by a score of 35-7.
San Marcos sophomore quarterback Emmett Brown had quite the night, and he got started early on. He was able to find senior wideout Jalen Bainer for 1 43-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead midway through the first.
After a defensive stop by the Knights, the offense pushed the ball up the field with relative ease once again. That’s where Brown found junior receiver Michael McDaris for his second touchdown pass of the night, which gave his team a 14-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Westview looked like it had taken some momentum. The Wolverines forced a fumble, recovered it and followed it with a first down on their first play. But the Knights stole the momentum right back by forcing a fumble and recovering it.
That led to the San Marcos offense getting the ball into scoring position, and Brown was able to capitalize on a 12-yard touchdown run to bring the score to 21-0 going into halftime.
It was much of the same in the second half, as the Wolverines’ offense could never find a rhythm against the Knights’ defense. San Marcos was able to score two more times, while Westview got their only touchdown late in the fourth.
The Knights move to 4-5 on the season and will head to Mission Hills next week. Westview falls to 2-7 and will play Mt. Carmel at their house on Friday.
