Week 10: San Pasqual Golden Eagles 63, Fallbrook Warriors 0
In its final regular-season home game, the San Pasqual Golden Eagles routed the still-winless Fallbrook Warriors 63-0, guaranteeing San Pasqual at least a share of the Valley League title in 2019.
With the win, San Pasqual improved to 4-0 in Valley League play. Only one intra-league opponent remains on the Golden Eagles’ schedule – the Escondido Cougars in the final regular-season game – and the Cougars currently sit at 3-0 in Valley League play.
Escondido has yet to play a Week 10 game because the match scheduled to pit the Cougars against Valley Center on Friday was postponed due to the proximity of the Miller Fire in North County. That game is now due to be held on Saturday, and it won’t be until it’s over that San Pasqual will learn if it must fight for the Valley League title or if it heads into the season finale as league champs already.
As for Friday’s game between the Golden Eagles and the Warriors, San Pasqual showed why it has an overall record of 8-1 now, and the Warriors struggled as has been the norm in 2019.
San Pasqual’s first series on offense set the tone for the rest of the game. Digging into the playbook, the Golden Eagles successfully delivered a double-reverse fleaflicker involving Mark Santar, Joey Chappelle, quarterback Trevor Jungman and receiver Kody Ketcham. After a flawless exchange between the first two in that list, the last two in that list connected on a 40-yard pass for an early score.
The remainder of the game would not get easier for the Warriors.
It their final game of 2019, Fallbrook will host the also-winless Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns next Friday at 7 p.m. in Fallbrook. Catch highlights for that and games from around the county on the KUSI Prep Pigskin Report starting at 11 p.m.
