Week 11: Hilltop Lancers 44, Mar Vista Mariners 7
The Hilltop Lancers came out on top against the Mar Vista Mariners, 44-7, in the final game of the regular season.
Hilltop’s Javin Deanda got an early start in the first quarter with a pass to Jeremiah Serrano for a 58-yard touchdown, giving the Lancers the first score of the night, 8-0 (two-point conversion completed).
In the second quarter, Hilltop kept pushing for more.
Deanda completed a short pass which resulted in a touchdown and successfully scored the 2-point conversion, increasing their lead 16-0.
The Lancers were not done there, Trevor Fune intercepted a pass and took it 70-yards for a touchdown, and extending their lead even further, 30-0.
Quarterback Deanda was very dangerous and exploded onto the field with another key play.
Still in the second quarter, dangerous Deanda threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Marco Aki, making the score 37-0, Lancers.
Deanda finished the second quarter by experiencing the scoring adrenaline for himself with a quarterback keep all the way into the end zone, and their lead was 44-0.
Mar Vista did not give up without a fight.
With three minutes remaining, Mariner David Del Rio ran past the Hilltop defense to get his team on the scoreboard, making the final score of the night 44-7, Lancers.
Congrats to Hilltop for winning the Metro-South Bay League Title for the third year in a row.
