Week 11 North County Game of the Week: Mission Hills Grizzlies 41, San Marcos Knights 7
The North County Game of the Week in Week 11 of the Prep Pigskin Report takes us out to Mission Hills for the biggest north county match up of the week, the 16th annual Discovery Bowl between the Mission Hills Grizzlies and the San Marcos Knights.
The Grizzlies have won 12 out of the 15 matchups with San Marcos and Mission Hills gets to engrave their name onto the trophy one more time after winning 41-7 over the Knights.
The Grizzlies wasted no time getting on the board with a quick 2-yard touchdown by Jackson Oksnee.
Soon after, Missions Hills very own Mckyle So’oto runs the ball in from 6 yards out and the Grizzlies took a 14-0 lead heading into the second quarter.
Mission Hills tacked on one more touchdown before halftime. Jackson Oksnee found Robert Thorton for a 38-yard touchdown pass and the 20-0 Grizzlies lead
With former Mission Hills Grizzlie and current Ohio State Buckeye Chris Olave in the house to cheer on his former teammates. His presence sparked a light under the Grizzlies, as they came out in the second quarter ready to attack, and that’s exactly what they did.
So’oto found the end zone again in the second half as he ran it from 11 yards out for the 27-0 lead.
Later, San Marcos punted the ball and here came Grizzlie Skai Donnell with a 57-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Mission Hills tacked on two more touchdowns and just like that, the Mission Hills Grizzlies win the 16th annual Discovery Bowl 41-7. Skai Donnell is the North County Game of the Week MVP and the Discovery Bowl MVP.
