Week 11 North County Game of the Week: San Marcos Knights 35, Mission Hills Grizzlies 7

For the 3rd time in Prep Pigskin Report history, the Discovery Bowl between #5 San Marcos (7-1, 3-1) and Mission Hills (3-5, 2-2) will be the North County Game of the Week.

Discovery Bowl XV is moving to the Knights Realm in 2018.  The Grizzlies hold a 12-2 advantage in the series, winning 11 straight games from 2005 to 2015.  This year, this could not be a more evenly matched game, as the Knights lone loss this season coming to Carlsbad back in week five 35-24, but they were also without starting quarterback and U.C. Davis Commit Miles Hastings.  As always San Marcos has done it with their offense averaging 34 points a game thanks in part to Hastings great decision making.  They also have a solid defense lead by senior DE Quinn Roff.

With eight games in the books, Mission Hills is playing some of their best football of the season.  The Grizzlies are loaded with underclassmen, that make plays, especially on the offensive side with junior receivers Joe Smith and Quinton Hadnot.  Smith is averaging 117 all-purpose yards per game, while Hadnot is averaging 96.  What makes Mission Hills go is senior defensive tackle Isaac Anderson who has been making plays for Chris Hauser’s defense since his debut on varsity.
