Week 11: Granite Hills Eagles 43, Valhalla Norsemen 0

And the regular season has come to an end. At least it did for the Granite Hills Eagles and the Valhalla Norsemen.

On Friday night, the Eagles went over to Valhalla and came out on top , 43-0. Valhalla tried to put up a strong fight, but the Eagles were just quicker off the ball.

The game began with Valhalla kicking off and Granite Hills receiving. The Eagles made their way to the 10-yard line and then Cody Wilson rushed his way into the end zone for the first score of the night.

When Valhalla gained possession Josh Fetcher, of the Eagles, intercepted a pass, giving the ball to Granite Hills.

Cristopher Ostreng then threw a quick five-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Setterberg.

The Eagles eventually regained possession thanks to their defense. Jayten Vanlandingham then made his way in for a touchdown from the five-yard line.

The second quarter began with the Eagles regaining the ball and making their way to the 7-yard line. After some broken plays, Granite decided to kick for a field goal and it was good.

The Eagles’ defense played a great game because Granite threw for three back-to-back touchdown passes.

The first was Ostreng hitting Carlos Deleon for a 44-yard touchdown.

The second was sophomore quarterback Justus McComb hitting James Johnson for a 58-yard touchdown. The third was McComb throwing to Jacob Setterberg for a 31-yard touchdown making the score 43-0 at halftime.

At the start of the second half, Valhalla decided to run the clock.

Throughout the third and fourth quarters, both teams went back and forth. Valhalla definitely stepped up their defense as they didn’t allow Granite to score any more points. The game ended quickly with the final score being 43-0, and now the Eagles begin prepping for playoffs.

PREVIEW

We are now in week 11 of San Diego prep football which means the regular season is just about over and it’s almost time for playoffs. Before that happens one more regular season game to not miss is the Granite Hills Eagles taking on the Valhalla Norsemen.

The Norsemen have had some ups and downs this season. The team is 0-9 and is ranked 16th in Division II. However, they are in good hands.

They have a strong running game with junior running back Kegan Baker. Last week against El Capitan, Baker rushed for a school-record 362 yards and was responsible for all of the team’s touchdowns. Even though this is Valhalla’s last game of the season, Baker has a good senior year to look forward to.

As for the Eagles, they are ring-chasing.

They hold a record of 8-1 with their only loss of the season being against Helix with a final score of 56-21. Senior quarterback Christopher Ostreng has thrown for 1,250 yards this season, averaging about 150 yards per game. The Eagles are ranked No. 1 in Division II.

The game will be held on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at Valhalla High School. If you miss the game or would like to watch the highlights, you can always catch them on the Prep Pigskin Report at 11 p.m. on KUSI. You can also follow @redjacketarmy on Twitter for scoring updates.
