Week 11: Mira Mesa Marauders 44, La Jolla Vikings 0
Senior Night kicked off for what would end up being the La Jolla Vikings final game of the season after a loss Friday night against the Mira Mesa Marauders,44-0.
Mira Mesa was off to a hot start scoring on the first drive where Noah Tumblin ran the ball in from 15 yards out, and he was just getting started.
Early in the second, Tumblin would find Albert Lemon completing a 31-yard pass that would fall a yard short of the end zone, later ran in by Elijah Lynch for the touchdown.
La Jolla could not seem to get anything working in their favor, from penalties to missed field goals, they trailed the Marauders 21-0 going into the half.
The Viking defense had a more successful night sacking Tumblin a number of times, but they just couldn’t stop them enough when it came to scoring.
Tumblin would find the end zone again for 17 yards, Lynch for a 3-yard touchdown, and Javelle Brown for three yards that got the Marauders a running clock the rest of the game.
An end of one season, for the Vikings who went 3-7 this season, but a continuation for another as Mira Mesa (7-2) advances to the playoffs to face San Pasqual (6-4) next week for the start of Division 2 playoffs.
The final game of the season is upon us as Week 11 of the Prep Pigskin Report rings in final League games around the county. This week we will see the La Jolla Vikings (3-6) host their neighbors down the 52, the Mira Mesa Marauders (6-2).
The Vikings are coming off a tough loss to the undefeated Christian Patriots, 49-0, and will definitely need to bring their A-game if they want to come out with a win against Mira Mesa.
Sophomore quarterback Diego Solis will most likely be throwing many passes this week to senior running back and wide receiver Gabe Solis who has caught 522 yards this season. This duo isn’t the only pair the Marauders should look out for; the Viking’s defense will be looking to stop the ball as soon as it is hiked.
Mira Mesa has only given up two losses this season and is coming off a big win against Madison.
The Marauders will not have an issue putting points on the board as Senior quarterback Noah Tumblin has already surpassed many quarterbacks in the county throwing for 1,323 yards. And who might you find on the receiving end of those passes?
Well, the Marauders have many talented wide receivers such as Albert Lemon (476 yards) and Javelle Brown (456 yards).
Both of these teams are 1-1 in League, to see who gains this final league win, catch the Prep Pigskin Report Friday night at 11 p.m., and follow our Twitter and Instagram for live game updates @RedJacketArmy.
