Helix Highlanders68, Grossmont Foothillers 7

Week 13 is now behind us. Only the strongest survive. We learned that Helix knew the fastest way up the mountain all along this evening. The Highlanders of Helix High School defeated the Grossmont Foothillers with a final of 68-7. Helix High School will take on Eastlake High School next week in the Semi Finals of CIF San Diego Section Division 1 playoffs.

Somebody put hot sauce in Elelyon Noa’s underwear before game time I am telling you. You heard it here first. The young man scored 5 touchdowns this past Friday night against the Foothillers while picking up 362 yards on the ground. ALL IN THE FIRST HALF!!

I heard from a source he was just short of the Helix All-Time record. Truly a fantastic performance all around. His longest reservations for six on the night, Noa went untouched from 76 and 72 yards out. Noa was running people over in the first half.

The Highlanders run a dual quarterback system with Delshawn Traylor and Daniel Amon. It continues to work out for Helix as they look to keep the momentum churning. The defensive effort from the Highlanders was something to not take for granted recording three interceptions and two sacks.

The largest play for Grossmont on the night came during a busted Cover 2 Zone taken advantage of.  This would set up a 6 yard touchdown rush from Grossmont running back Robert Tucker.

PREVIEW:

Week 13, we have CIF San Diego Section playoff football this Friday night. The Grossmont Foothillers will take on the Helix Highlanders in a Quarterfinal contest. It is time to find out which route up the mountain is the quickest. Who will move on to take on the winner of Oceanside and Eastlake in the Semifinals? This matchup will be one for the books.

The head coach for Grossmont High School is Tom Karlo. The head coach for Helix High School is Robbie Owens. This will be a neutral matchup. Grossmont is (4-7) and Helix is (6-4).

Last week, in the first round the matchup was Grossmont ranked 11th against Madison ranked 4th. Helix ranked 3rd and had a Bye. Grossmont prevailed late in the fourth quarter. Let me tell you about it.

Grossmont Wide Receiver Brody (never been sicker) Schicker from 26 yards out overcame Madison’s fourth quarter heroics via the air from quarterback Jaime Odom.

Next came the lights going out with 7 seconds left. Madison QB called his own number up the middle for a significant gain up to the Grossmont 22 yard line. The ultimate ice of the kicker. Madison short of a field goal with a final 44-42, Foothillers move on.

This matchup is loaded with talent as both schools have the numbers, as well as the weapons. Who will come through in the fourth for the brothers around them?

Grossmont, Helix…. Leave it out on the field!
