Week 14: Francis Parker Lancers 34, Vincent Memorial Scots 22
The Francis Parker Lancers defeated the Vincent Memorial Scots in a Division V semifinal by a score of 34-22.
The Scots rang the bell first when Alejandro Cervantes went deep to Hernan Olivas for the 32 yard touchdown hookup giving Vincent memorial the early 7-0 lead.
The Lancers answered right back when Trevor Browkowsi got loose on a read option taking it 66 yards to the house and tying the score at 7.
In the second quarter special teams got to work for Francis Parker.
On a Vincent Memorial punt Peter Valverde recovered the mishandled snap and took it 5 yards for a touchdown to put the lancers up 14-7.
Later in the quarter Francis Parker got in the end zone again.
This time Gervy Alota found freshman Chris Williams for the 25 yard score making it 20-7 Lancers heading into halftime.
The second half started with a nearly nine minute drive by Francis Parker. It was capped off with a 6 yard touchdown run for freshman Chris White and seemed to put the game out of reach.
But the Scots were able to put a drive together which was capped off by an Emilio Abizaid 20 yard rushing touchdown.
With a little over eight minutes left in the game Vincent Memorial was down just 27-14.
But Brokowski wasn’t done as he took a handoff from the 49 yard line and got loose up the right sideline. He dove for the pylon but was marked out at the 2.
White would score again to give the Lancers the 34-14 advantage.
Olivas would score again completing an 8 yard touchdown pass to Abizaid. A two point conversion made the score 34-22.
The teams traded interceptions with the final one sealing the it for Francis Parker.
The Lancers will play 2 seed Castle Park in the Division 5 final.
