Week 2: Sweetwater Red Devils 35, Fallbrook Warriors 6
After Fallbrook broke the ice and scored first, the Sweetwater Red Devils ran away with the game. Literally.
Junior Running back Mario Villa scored Sweetwater’s first touchdown of the season with a 46-yard scamper to take the lead, 8-6.
In the opening drive of the third quarter, junior quarterback Isaiah Atayde (ah-tie-day) broke loose, and went untouched for an 86-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 14-6.
Sweetwater sophomore running back Javier Sanchez broke free for a 15-yard run to set up his own 1-yard score, right up the middle, making it 21-6.
Later, Atayde threw a bubble pass to senior wideout Nico Salazar, who then juked a defender, and turned on the speed for a 20-yard run-after-catch for a touchdown, and it was 28-6
Sanchez got his second touchdown of the night as Sweetwater won, 35-6.
These two teams are coming off of tough losses to start the season. Both teams are now 0-1 and looking for their first win.
This game will be played Friday night at 7 p.m. at Hilltop High School.
The Sweetwater Red Devils played against San Pasqual and took a 42-0 loss.
The Fallbrook Warriors took on Del Norte and took a 44-0 loss.
You can bet both teams will be hungry to see the end zone and get their first victory and get that bad taste out of their mouth.
