Week 3 East County Game of the Week: El Cajon Valley Braves 20, Coronado Islanders 7

It was quite the game Friday night out at El Cajon Valley as the Braves hosted the Coronado Islanders.

This game a rematch of a year ago when the Braves fell 76-0 at Coronado. But, they came into Friday’s game looking for revenge.

Defense was a huge factor in this game, here is Joe Malone taking down Coronado’s Ash Bibbes.

But, the Islanders get revenge a few minutes later as Bibbes takes the ball himself plowing through the Braves defense to this one at 7 a piece.

Then, with less than two minutes to go in the second, its Daniel Jacobs with the pick, he would take it down the field before getting taken down right at the goal line.

But, Damarius Hyde completes the touchdown for the Braves a few minutes later to make it 13-7 Braves.

We jump to the fourth, here is Hyde again for the score and the 20-7 lead.

Coronado tries to make a comeback late but Brandon Balckburn has other plans as he snags this one out of the air.

The Braves celebrate an emotional win and improve to 3-0 on the season. They head to Clairemont next Friday, while the Islanders head home to face Mar Vista.

The Coronado Islanders will be taking a trip out east to face the El Cajon Valley Braves in the El Cajon Ford East County Game of the Week.

The Braves had a rough go last season not winning a single game, but so far are 2-0 in their 2019 campaign after defeating Francis Parker and Hoover. Their win against Hoover was a close one as they won by a final score of 20-19. They are coached by Nicholas Osborn and are hoping to continue their success at home this week.

As far as the visiting Islanders are concerned, they are coached by Kurt Hines and are so far at 1-1 this season. The Islanders just barely fell to Classical Academy last week with the Caimans scoring a touchdown late in the game to edge them out, 26-23. So, they are looking for a bit of revenge in their trip out east.

This game will start at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
