Week 3: Bonita Vista Barons 35, Sweetwater Red Devils 14

The Barons made their first home game one to remember as they defeated the Sweetwater Red Devils, 35-14.

In the opening possession of the game, quarterback Chris Kane found receiver Ron Vann for a 37-yard touchdown.

From there, Bonita Vista’s offense was able to take control of the momentum of the game and ran with it… literally.

After a 56-yard touchdown stemming off a punt return, Vann’s name was heard being celebrated all evening as he delivered a noteworthy performance the rest of the night. He ended the contest with three touchdowns and well over 100 total yards.

The Sweetwater Red Devils may have had a rough start to the game, but the team kicked off the second half with new energy in efforts to shift their luck on the field.

On the kickoff, senior Rej Sarabia took the ball for a 72-yard return, which in turn set up teammate Nicholas Salazar to run in the team’s only score of the night.

Although the Red Devil defense pushed hard to keep the Barons away from the end zone, they were not able to get the job done entirely.

Next week, Sweetwater will have a new chance to put a win in their record books as they play against the Santana Sultans.

Bonita Vista will celebrate homecoming as they host the Steele Canyon Cougars.

PREVIEW

The Bonita Vista Barons will host their first home game of the season this Friday in a non-conference match up against the Sweetwater Red Devils.

Last week, both teams picked up their first win of the season with running offenses.

Baron senior Ron Vann was Bonita Vista’s top scorer with two touchdowns. Bonita Vista ended the night with a 57-0 shutout.

Red Devil quarterback Isaiah Atayde had no fear of keeping the ball for himself and outrunning the defense with an 86-yard scamper. Sweetwater defeated Fallbrook, 35-6.

This Friday night, these two teams will go head-to-head. With two strong offenses, the game may come down to which defense has the upper hand.

Tune into the Prep Pigskin Report this Friday night at 11 p.m. to see which team comes out on top. Craving even more game details? Follow @RedJacketArmy on Twitter for live update throughout the game.
