Week 4 East County Game of the Week: Christian Patriots 43, Monte Vista Monarchs 6

Friday night the Monte Vista Monarchs welcomed in the Christian Patriots as both teams came into the game with a 1-2 record.

We pick this one up in the 2nd quarter, the Patriots Nate Stine sneaking this one right through the Monarchs line and it is 7-0 Christian.

A little while later, its the Patriots again this time it is Christian Salicup catching the bullet pass for the score and it is 14-0.

But he isn’t done yet, here is Salicup one more time as he takes the handoff and tiptoes right inside for another score.

3rd quarter now and apparently third time has a bit of an extra charm for Nate Stine as he goes down the sidelines to give the Patriots the 33-0 lead.

But, a Monarch never goes down without a fight. Here is Isaiah Gardner plowing through the Patriots to avoid the shutout.

The final 43-6 Christian. They head home to face Central while Monte Vista heads to Imperial.

Preview: This Friday night, the Monte Vista Monarchs are playing host to the Christian Patriots and it could be a big night on Monte Vista’s side.

Monarch head coach Ron Hamamoto is one win away from tying coach John Shacklett’s for fourth on the all-time section wins list. So if the Monarchs are able to pick up the win, Hamamoto will tie Coach Shack with 229 wins.

Former Point Loma coach Benny Edens is third on the list with 238 wins. Former Oceanside coach John Carroll is second with 248 wins. Herb Meyer, who coached at El Camino and Oceanside, is the all-time section leader in wins with 339.

The Monarchs are coming off of a tough 39-36 loss to Patrick Henry last week and are looking to get back on the winning track. So far this season they are 1-2.

As far as the Patriots are concerned, they are coming off of a tough loss to Soldotna, out of Alaska, but are also looking to bounce back in their first all-east county matchup this season.

Both teams with the same record in the battle of the east as both are trying to get to .500.
