Week 4: St. Augustine Saints 62, Otay Ranch Mustangs 0
The Otay Ranch Mustangs hosted the St. Augustine Saints for Week 4 of football madness.
The Saints were able to gain an early lead just minutes into the first quarter when Byron Cardwell took it in for a 9-yard touchdown run, making it 7-0, Saints.
Later in the first, quarterback Angelo Peraza faked a handoff, rolled out to the left, and found Samuel Scaife in the end zone for an 11-yard touchdown, increasing the lead to 14-0, Saints.
That wouldn’t be the end of Scaife, as he dodged defenders to complete a 43-yard touchdown run and it was 21-0, Saints. By the end of the game, Scaife finished with 112 yards on seven receptions.
Later in the second quarter, Mike Ambagtsheer punched the ball out of the Mustangs’ quarterbacks hands, allowing it to be recovered in the endzone by the Saints’ Malcolm Williams, increasing the lead to 35-0, Saints
The Saints continued to light up the scoreboard in the second half, resulting in another win, 62-0. The 4-0 Saints will be playing Helix next week at Mesa College.
The St. Augustine Saints (3-0) will venture down to the South Bay to take on the Otay Ranch Mustangs (2-1), this Friday at 7 p.m.
The Saints, led by head coach Joe Kremer, have been lighting up scoreboards everywhere they’ve played. They’ve outscored their opponents, 126-12, throughout their first three games.
A key factor to the Saints success has been quarterback Angelo Peraza’s capability to both throw and run. The dual-threat quarterback has already accounted for 572 all-purpose yards and seven total touchdowns in the season.
Otay Ranch has been a defensive-minded football team, anchored by junior linebacker Aidan Arguilla. Arguilla flies sideline-to-sideline, averaging 14 tackles per game. Expect him to be utilized this Friday to shut down the Saints’ offensive drive.
