Vista Panthers 67, Mt. Carmel 6

It was homecoming tonight at Vista High School as the Mt. Carmel Sundevils took on the Vista Panthers. The Panthers wanted to show out to the large homecoming crowd and they sure did.

The Panthers had an explosion in the first half of points.

In the first quarter, Vista quarterback Josh Davies took the QB keeper 99 yards for a touchdown putting the Panthers up 6-0 after the failed PAT attempt.

On their second series, Josh Davies took another QB keeper for a 22-yard touchdown for his second of the night.

The Sundevils turned the ball over twice one via a fumble and another through an interception by Justice Reith.

The Panthers added a 9-yard touchdown run by Desmond Taua, which put the Panthers up 26-0 in the 1st quarter.

In the second quarter, Mt. Carmel got into the game with a Carson Taumoepeau 3-yard touchdown run. The PAT was no good as the Sundevils cut into the lead 33-6.

Vista added three more rushing touchdowns in the second quarter via Tyler Stacier, Brian Kelly, and David Flores.

Vista ended up getting the upper hand over the Mt. Carmel Sundevils as they improve to 4-1 on homecoming night.

The Sundevils slip to 0-5 with hopes of getting their first win next week as they take on San Marcos at home.

The Panthers will take on Poway in Poway when they come off their bye week next week.

Preview:
The Mt. Carmel Sundevils (0-4) are traveling to Vista to take on the Vista Panthers (3-1) this Friday Night at 7 p.m.

This will be the first Palomar League battle for both teams this year.

Mt. Carmel is trying to snap their four-game losing skid and Vista is trying to keep things rolling after a 42-20 win against Morse last week.

The Sundevils are coming into this suffering a tough loss to a good Ramona, 31-24. It was a close margin of defeat as they try to rebound this week after a string of losses.

The Sundevils hope to get some more good runs from junior running back Ty Virgin, as he rushed for 125 yards on 18 carries and he also scored two touchdowns last week against a good Ramona defense.

The Sundevils had the lead for the whole game against Ramona until the 4th quarter; they will try to keep it the entire game this week.

The Panthers are coming into this matchup after an impressive win against Morse last week. They ended up rushing for 450 yards in the game.

Between running back Brian Kelly and quarterback Josh Davies the Panthers were able to overcome a good Morse team.

This week they will be hoping for the same results as they play at home.

Will Mt. Carmel get their first win of the season? Or will the Panthers reign supreme in the Palomar League jungle?
