Jersey Mike’s City Game of the Week: Monte Vista Monarchs 42, Bishop’s School Knights 26

The Jersey Mike’s City Game of the Week for week six was easily the most impressive matchup of the series thus far.

The Monte Vista Monarchs used their revenge fuel from last year in this one to pull away in the second half, as the Monarchs defeated the Knights, 42-26, in a terrific contest.

Let’s try to figure out what JAHMON MCCLENDON ate before this football game. Good grief folks, four touchdowns to go along with 336 yards on the ground. Get this man a job! Wait…McClendon does have a gig lined up for next year, joining UCLA and Chip Kelly in the PAC 12.

For the Monarchs of Monte Vista, they executed as a team on Friday night.

The offensive line did their job on the line of scrimmage as quarterback KENNY STEVENS had a sweet bootleg right for a touchdown on a fake to McClendon after running eight consecutive plays to the running back at the end of the 3rd quarter.

ELSHADDAI LEVI had a nice run to the end zone from 25 yards out the first touchdown of the game.

The Knights of Bishop’s School have their heads up high. The Knight community is beyond proud of the way they fought the entire football game.

The Knights were up 19-14 at halftime after scoring on a super bowl play, then a spectacular catch by CLARENCE FREEMAN IV to make it 14-13, Monarchs.

The ensuing kickoff resulted in a fumble recovered by the Knights.

DOMINIC HALEY took the offense from the 39-yard line to eventually run it in himself from the 16-yard line.

It was the first day on the job for Haley, at least at quarterback, as he made his debut under center. Yes, he was the center to start the year.

Haley, a senior, was first-team all-league on the offensive line his sophomore and junior season.

On the night, Haley had 199 yards with 2 touchdowns via the air, and a rushing touchdown to go along with 65 yards. Talk about a performance as an athlete. There were two potential plays of the week in this game!

PREVIEW

Week 6 is right around the corner and this week, the Monte Vista Monarchs travel out to La Jolla to face The Bishop’s School Knights host what will be a terrific football contest.

The Monarchs come into this game 3-1 after a fight to remain undefeated against Christian in Week 4.

The Knights come into this week having an overall record at 2-2.

The head coach for the visiting Monarchs is Ron Hamamoto and the head coach for the Knights is Joel Allen.

Last year, Bishop’s and Monte Vista played back in week 5. The final score was 58-21, Bishop’s. For the Knights, it was all Jeffrey Jackson and Mozes Mooney. Both teams were able to move the ball on offense. This year could be a different chapter.

The Knights are a very balanced offense in 2018.

Quarterback Clay Petry will be looking to connect with his favorite target Clarence Freeman IV. Freeman has well over 500 + yards on the season with eight reservations for six.

Gabe Thomas and Amaan Banks are the dual threats in the backfield for the Knights. Petry will take off with the pigskin on Friday night.

The Monarchs come into this fight looking to run the football and prove a point. It took a two-point conversion to beat them in double overtime in week 4.

Against Christian, running back Jahmon McClendon is coming off a 200-yard game.

Kenny Stevens looks to move the chains on Friday night with his hand cannon. The Monarch hogs need to keep up the good work continuing into week 6.

McClendon’s junior season ended with a spectacular CIF performance. It appears as of recent news, McClendon will be wearing True Blue and Gold in his future, changing his commitment from SDSU to UCLA. This Friday night lights matchup you will not want to miss.
